Ichi Ni San!!!!

Did You hear that counting? Well, Thats Japanese. And in these lesson, I will introduce

the basic counting used by Japanese. Please Have time to scroll down below for more details.

Cardinal Numbers - Kisu

Count  --- Kazoeru

• Zero --------- Zero/ Rei/ Maru
• One ---------- Ichi
• Two ---------  Ni
• Three -------- San
• Four --------- Yon / Shi
• Five ---------- Go
• Six ----------  Roku
• Seven ------- Shichi / nana
• Eight -------- Hachi
• Nine --------  Ku / Kyu
• Ten ---------  Juu

Thats the basic counting from 1 to 10 in japanese

From 11 to twenty, Just put Juu( equivalent to 10) in front of the number then repeat.

Check the countings below:

• Eleven  -----  Juu Ichi
• Twelve ------ Juu Ni
• Thirteen -----  Juu San
• Fourteen ------ Juu yon / Juu shi
• Fifteen ---------  Juu Go
• Sixteen  --------- Juu roku
• Seventeen ------- Juu Shichi / Juu nana
• Eighteen  -------  Juu hachi
• Nineteen --------  Juu ku / Juu Kyu
• twenty ----------  Ni juu

For twenty its ni ( equivalent to 2) and juu ( equivalent to 10) that means two tens is twenty.

Same goes with 30s, 40s etc

• Thirty ----------  san juu
• Fourty ---------- yon juu / Shi ju
• Fifty   ----------  go juu
• Sixty ----------  roku juu
• Seventy ---------- Shichi juu / Nana Juu
• Eighty ----------  Hachi juu
• Ninety ----------  Ku juu / Kyu juu
• one hundred ------- Hyaku

For hundreds counting, its hyaku but take note on numbers 3, 6 and 8. 

These numbers are special when it comes to counting as you can see on the details below

• One hundred ----------  Hyaku
• Two hundred ----------  Ni Hyaku
• Three hundred ----------  San Byaku
• Four hundred ----------  Yon Hyaku
• Five hundred ---------- Go Hyaku
• Six hundred ----------  Roppyaku
• Seven hundred ---------- Nana Hyaku
• Eight hundred ---------- Happyaku
• Nine hundred ----------  Kyu Hyaku
• One Thousand ----------  Sen

as you can see, numbers 3,6 and 8 changes for some reason I dont know really, But these pattern applies to some countings like how many, how old, etc.. 

You'll encounter more on these as you go along with your studies on counting but for now please remember that pattern as most foreigner really having some hard time using it.

• FourThousand ----------  Yon Sen
• Five Thousand ----------  Go Sen
• Six Thousand ----------  Roku Sen

• Nine Thousand ----------  Kyuu Sen
• Ten Thousand ----------  Ichiman

For thousand countings, only numbers 3 and 8 have some changes so may also please take note of that.

Theres also countings like

• One Hundred Thousand ----------  Juu man
• One Million ----------  Hyakuman
• One Billion ----------  Senman

Last two are seldom use but better if you'd know.
